Connect once, then keep the workflow repeatable
Use USB when latency matters most. Use WiFi when the room setup needs movement.
USB Setup
- 1Install VikCastX on Windows.
- 2Install the free Android companion app.
- 3Enable Developer Options and USB debugging on Android.
- 4Connect the phone with a data-capable USB cable.
- 5Approve the Android debugging prompt.
- 6Open VikCastX and choose USB Casting.
WiFi Setup
- 1Connect Windows and Android to the same reliable WiFi network.
- 2Open VikCastX on Windows and switch to WiFi mode.
- 3Open the Android companion app.
- 4Select the detected Windows device or enter the IP address manually.
- 5Start casting and tune bitrate or FPS if the network is busy.
ADB Troubleshooting
- 1Use a data cable instead of a charge-only cable.
- 2Revoke USB debugging authorizations and reconnect.
- 3Install or update the device OEM USB driver on Windows.
- 4Restart the Android companion service.
- 5Try another USB port if the device drops during casting.
Permissions
What users approve during setup
Android requires visible permission prompts for screen capture and audio capture. VikCastX does not bypass those platform rules.
Screen capture permission
Required by Android before casting starts.
Foreground casting service
Required by Android before casting starts.
Common errors
Android device does not appear in USB mode
WiFi connection starts but frame rate drops
Audio permission was denied on Android
Recording file has watermark in Free mode
Quick fixes
Restart both apps if Android permission was denied.
Use USB mode for competitive gameplay or high FPS recording.
Lower bitrate in WiFi mode if packet loss appears in the dashboard.
Contact support for PC reset or license activation issues.
